How it’s built. All offence types reported to the police, per 100,000 residents, per province — ISTAT's own crime-rate dataflow (73_67_DF_DCCV_DELITTIPS_9, DATA_TYPE=CRIMET, TYPE_CRIME=TOT), 2024. A higher value means MORE reported crime — this is a negative-direction indicator, the same as the Europe map's OECD intentional-homicide and vehicle-theft layers.
