Which towns, out of 7,894?

Most of what we hold is published for a single comune: what property costs there, whether the 7% regime applies, how the province scores on well-being. Tell us what matters to you below, and we hold those against each other live — that is usually enough to get from 7,894 towns down to a handful worth looking at properly.

Nearest hospital with inpatient beds (Ministero della Salute list), by road from the main town. Not necessarily one with an emergency department.
Nearest emergency department in the Ministero della Salute's emergency network (DEA level I or II, or Pronto Soccorso), by road from the main town.
Nearest of the airports where ENAC recorded at least 4,000 passengers in 2025; this leaves out two airports that carried almost none (Taranto-Grottaglie, Brescia-Montichiari), by road from the main town.

These are off until you choose a time. They are approximate free-flow drive times from the main town of each comune (OpenStreetMap roads), with no traffic. A town the router cannot reach without a ferry has no figure and drops out of the step. See Sources.

Each step filters on real, sourced data. A town with no OMI price for its own comune drops out of the price step rather than borrowing a price from the next town over. Every optional filter works the same way: a town with no figure for it drops out, and the step counts them. 2,535 comuni currently qualify for the 7% regime, from ISTAT population and this site’s own rule.

What had to line up first

12 institutions, and almost none of them publish at the same level of detail. Prices and population come for a single town; well-being and crime come for a province; income and life expectancy come for a region or country. Lining them up is slow work, and we do it once. What we do not do is quietly push a province figure down onto a town: a figure keeps the level it was published at, and every page says which that is.
